Now you work extra hard and manage to increase your daily visitors to 150 per day, plus you also manage to increase your conversation rate by say 50%. I am just keeping these numbers rounded for ease and simplicity I hope you do not mind.
Right with this increase, you are getting 150 visitors and selling your product or service to 1.5% of them – which makes it 2.25 sales per day. This would now increase your profit from $100 to $225. Very Nice!!!
This would give you 125% increase in your business from two 50% increases in your visitors and conversions.

2 steps for success online. It’s hard to imagine that it’s that simple. 1% seems pretty depressing but when you run the numbers, I would definitely be ok with $100 a day. Now that we know the why time to figure out the how.

It’s crazy but people do not realise how a simply tweak can bring about such a change in profitability.
Once you have a system that works you just have to keep improving it till it brings you optimum results. As you say you can simply throw more traffic at it and more will inevitably stick, or you can play the sensible route first and increase conversions by testing and modifying until you convert at a much better percentage. Then when you increase traffic it will have maximum impact.

Great points here. Too many people think a website alone is a printing press, but it just isn’t the case. One of my businesses is almost 2.5 years old and I’m just now to the point where I’m able to convert at a fairly decent rate for a high-priced service… So it takes time and tweaking, but as we all know – “test, test, test”.

Well put Paul. A small increase in conversion rates can make big changes in the bottom line. Its not all about the traffic, this is just half of it, continually split testing to improve conversions is the other half as you say.
