Goal Setting
Goal Setting
…goal setting is what I would personally consider the cornerstone / keystone of growth.
In essence we should be thinking about areas of goal setting:
- Personal Goals
- Business Goals
- Entrepreneur Goals
The easiest way to explain this is by way of an example:
Personal Goals
- To free up more time each day to enjoy the things that give me enjoyment
- Be accountable to myself
- Be in charge of my own destiny
- Spend more time with the one’s I love
- Travel more visiting the places I dream about
- Buy my dream house
- Buy my dream car
Business Goals
- Give my customer / subscribers value, in fact ensure that I over deliver to them
- To help people in attaining needs and wants. A great way to gain respect
- To run a business that I love
Entrepreneur Goals
- To stop procrastinating
- Work smarter and realize that it is impossible for me to complete every job.
- Build a better understanding / relationship with my list
- To learn how to write better emails
- To meet my mentor in person
Your goals will obviously reflect where you are in your business right now and what you are looking for in the future.
A rule of thumb is to set 30 /60 / 90 days goals. A big step to success is making yourself accountable to others. In fact if you can find an accountable partner that would great in making sure that each of you are keeping to your goal settings.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for posting this and sharing the video of Jim Rohn. It’s amazing to me how many times I’ve heard/read/viewed successful people say we need to set goals … and I just blow it off thinking “yeah, I’ll do that once I start seeing success…”
After watching that video I’m beginning to have a paradigm shift…

I won’t even lie to you, but this is one of the biggest hurdles I face. Goal setting is difficult for me. I don’t know what it is, but I always have a hard time following through with my goals.
However, I recently started to write down something along with my goals to help me understand why I chose these goals.
I started writing down “the benefits” I would enjoy once I achieved my goals.
For example, my income goal for the year is $100,000. Instead of only writing down “My goal is to make $100,000.”, I would also add “because I want to use the money to get out of debt”
“I want to make $100,000 this year because I want to use the money to get out of debt”
Now that I see the benefits I’ll enjoy from reaching my goals, I’ll be more inclined to complete my goals instead of bailing out on them. I know this little trick works for a lot of people too, so maybe you can try it.
Focus on the benefits you’ll enjoy from your goals, instead of the goal itself.

Hello Website Owner! Great blog, Keep up the quality work!
I’ve found over the years that my goals have centered around the same things…. Music, Women, running, and money. Every time I sit down to write down my goals, they end up coming out as a different version of the same theme. The key for me has been actually doing something about those goals. Once I started to do that, the goals started to become a reality.

Hi Paul,
Sylvia
Breaking out the different areas to set goals in was initially confusing but after going through the process it was very beneficial. I could really see how certain goals were connected to each other and it really helped the goal setting/prioritizing process.
I think your right, breaking it down via a 30/60/90 is just important since each a goal can be soooo intimidating at times. Small or big steps is a step in the right direction.
Good Stuff as always,

Goals should be relevant to the direction you want your life and career to take. By keeping goals aligned with this, you’ll develop the focus you need to get ahead and do what you want. Set widely scattered and inconsistent goals, and you’ll fritter your time – and your life – away.
Excellent post. I was checking continuously this blog and I am impressed! Extremely helpful info specially the last part
